Antique HACO Coronet Green Marble Plastic Polystyrene Wall Tile 4-1/4" - Sold Each - Circa 1950s
This is an Antique Item
This is an antique plastic 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" square wall tile in a green marbleized pattern by HACO Coronet Tile by Hachmeister, Pittsburgh PA. Plastic (polystyrene) wall tiles were introduced in the early 1950s when plastics began to be widely used for household products. Plastic tiles were promoted as an easy and quick fix for cracking plaster walls, that could be installed by do-it-yourselfers much more cheaply than traditional ceramic tile. They were manufactured in a wide variety of bright colors and were promoted as a more "modern" look.Â
